Examples
- When citizens in Lowell and Middlesex County, Massachusetts met to plan for how to deal with aneglected superfund site in Concord, MA, RQI’s methods were used to allow citizens a chance to weigh in with their concerns and suggestions before the experts began talking. One of the organizers of the meeting described RQI’s strategy as the best way to make it possible for ordinary citizens to participate in planning processes with experts and to be able to ask their own questions.
We live in a democratic society and it is possible for us, for all of us, for everyone to have some influence but it's a matter of just getting involved. (RQI) is a way for people to represent themselves, and to deal with government agencies, and to be able to achieve something.
