The US Legal Empowerment Network was created to foster a community of organizers, legal professionals, and advocates who are committed to making systems more accessible, equitable, and rooted in community. RQI is proud to be a part of the organizing team for this Network. The 2026 Convening, held in Chicago, brings together individuals and organizations from across the country to collaborate and share tools for knowing, using, and shaping the law.

RQI’s Empowerment Program team will be presenting an interactive session to attendees to share tools for building agency and fostering empowerment in clients, community members, and any people seeking to make their voice heard. Session Description: This interactive workshop will introduce a practical educational strategy for building agency that can be applied in any setting where you work. It is grounded in principles of popular and democratic education and has been shaped and used by impacted communities, direct service providers, and community organizers and activists around the U.S. and internationally. The workshop will include a case study that shows how the strategy has been used in social services settings to prepare people to advocate for their rights and navigate the legal system.
