Rachel Knapp is a senior at Harvard College where she is concentrating in African & African American Studies, with a secondary field in Global Health & Health Policy. A Montana native with a passion for international studies and global health, Rachel has spent a great deal of her time in college focusing upon women’s health access both at home in the US and internationally. She is particularly interested in the intersection of race, class, gender and sexual orientation as a social determinant of care in health settings. Motivated by her interest in race and gender, Rachel has performed extensive international research on structural violence experienced by African communities living in Paris and on societal understandings of Female Genital Cutting throughout Senegal. In her free time, Rachel enjoys hiking, concert-going, road-tripping and wandering aimlessly through unknown cities.
