Register by July 1 for Harvard course

For those of you interested in taking our online course with the Harvard Graduate School of Education this July, the deadline to register is July 1.
The course, Teaching Students to Ask Their Own Questions: Best Practices in the Question Formulation Technique, covers how to apply the QFT across multiple grade levels and academic subjects, from early learner classrooms through higher education.
It’s ideal for people who want to help make questioning, inquiry, curiosity, and critical thinking a central part of students’ learning experience.
For those of you already using the QFT to build cultures of questioning and curiosity in your own schools, this can be a great resource to introduce your colleagues to the QFT.

“Becoming heroes in their own stories”

It’s summer here in the United States, a time when many young people go to camp. Danny Delgado, director of the WOW! Camp program in Georgia, writes about the power of using the Question Formulation Technique with young learners in a robotics unit at the camp. He talks about the importance of being “the guide, not the hero” in students’ stories — of helping students become the heroes of their own stories — and how the QFT helps make that happen. Those of you who are Star Wars fans may be especially interested to learn about his perspective.
