“Our dual language PreK-8 classrooms at Dual Immersion Academy in Grand Junction, Colorado are buzzing with students’ voices. Questions are volando.”
Michele Rewold, Dual Language Education Facilitator, writes about how the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) is being used across grade levels and subject areas in her dual language setting to get students asking questions and engaged in the material in both languages. She explores how it was particularly successful in a 6th grade math classroom, for a unit on números racionales/rational numbers, in tandem with the AIM4S³™ Framework (Achievement Inspired Mathematics for Scaffolding Student Success).
The AIM4S³™ Math Framework was developed by Dual Language Education of New Mexico (DLeNM). This article was published in Soleado, DLeNM’s quarterly newsletter.
